moose-70254_1920Financial advisers meet in offices behind a desk for a reason.  Stroll on over and try to sell him on a bloated lumbering mutual fund hosting a  gaggle of spirit-obliterating fees.  Knowledge is like sporting a giant rack yo.

 

 

Five year olds feel things.  So do we.  If you feel or think there’s a ghost in your closet, then for you there is.  But when you flip on the lights and open the closet door things tend to change.  Ghosts live in the dark and many retail investment advisers do to.  Don’t get us wrong.  Professional services conducted with integrity deserve to be paid.  Nonetheless, ignorance pays, them, not you.  Anyone willingly operating within a piratical pricing structure is not the person you want fondling your stack.  Stockjaw is beaming the massive array of money fact, one lamp and fact at a time.

 

 

Keep your money parked in CDs until you gain a few basic money chops.  We didn’t.  A well-meaning family member walked us right down to the retail front and we were promptly drilled for front end loads costing us thousands.  Fact.  We remember and we’re telling you.

 

 

 

 

 

 Financial advisers hate half-informed clients.  They know enough to ask some questions, but often not enough to evaluate the answers.

 

 

Don’t count on some retail investing guy behind a desk to teach you how to run your own money.  That’s not the job description.  In fact, half-informed clients prove a pain in the ass for them.  They know enough to ask some questions, but often not enough to evaluate the answers.  We stare frozen in the face of complexity and potential gain.  That’s not stupid.  It’s human.

 

 

Embrace your inner five year old.  That kid’s dynamite.  She’s not afraid to level difficult questions, or to repeat them when unsatisfied.  Great advisers exist and the proper question set goes a long way in revealing the truth.  If you want one make it a fee-for-services meet.  Or, look, listen, read, and discuss, for yourself.  You wouldn’t be reading this were you uninterested.
