Up-Grade to High Quality Problems. They’re Much Better.

Awards do exist for people who insist on only the best problems.  One such award is comfort.  Comfort’s good.  We know–we up-graded.  Who lives the same problems round and round anyway?  Avoid that.  It’s a circle not a plan.

P e o p l e                          judge you by the problems you face.  No?  You’re kidding right?  People are like eagles.  Some see nothing while others everything–and that includes nearly everything you do and how intelligently.  But then, who cares?  Let them watch.  We’re upping our problem-set recognition skills.

Two base problem sets exist, excluding the truly unavoidable.  Identify the survivable vs. the totally unacceptable, as you define them.  Monitor your problem stream, ID, up-grade as needed.

Below we will use three sets, for demonstration purposes only.

W h e r e                       one sits at a restaurant is an issue for some.  How fawning the celebrity chief is while visiting your table–that’s an issue.  Well maybe.  But if it ranks as an “issue,” then it’s part of the better side.  The worse side is being turned away while on a date.  That’s a worse problem right?

workplace-1245776_1920A standard quality problem(SQP); Day one and you don’t know anyone’s name.  A high quality problem(HQP);  They all like you and want you on their team.

StockJaw               just jacked up a deal we’d been working for 10 weeks.  Where does that kind of problem fit?  We set our strategy, bought our calls, and failed for technical reasons to convert our calls into shares.  Is that a high or standard quality problem?  Lets take a peek and grab some perspective.

SQP–“Standard Quality Problem.”  HQP–“High Quality Problem.” UHQP-“Uber High Quality Problem.”  (UHQP, for demonstration purposes only.)

SQP–You miss your turn in traffic.  HQP–You’re way early with nothing big on and your driver misses your turn in traffic.  It’s his last day, and your new driver’s Jennifer Garner.  You know exactly what’s in your wallet, and who’s driving you tomorrow.  UHQP–The next day Jennifer misses your turn, and it’s your day off.

SQP–You miss the Super Bowl kick-off.  HQP–You miss the kick-off because you’re forced to wait a second in valet parking.  UHQP–Someone you don’t like shows up in your box at the stadium.

womens-2346309_1920Simply feeling spectacular.  Opps…

SQP–You’re late after being stuck in-line at Starbucks.  HQP–You’re forced to sit at a different table, you’re out of eye-shot of the sidewalk, and that’s when you notice the black ink all over the back of your thumb, and someone two tables over has nicer sunglasses.

coffee-2350590_1920To avoid standard quality problems while in public, don’t scan for brands or dig for change.  How hard is that?

SSQP–(standard yet serious) The guy in the seat beside you knows nothing of dental hygiene.  HQP–You almost break a sweat before the hotel shuttle pulls in and whisks  you away to your 4.85 Star Mayan Riviera hotel.

cancun-2318059_1920Even the worst case scenario ranks as superior when you have “High Quality” problems.  Insist on only the best problems.  We do.  It’s your life, and your day.  “I’ve fallen and can’t reach my beer” doesn’t qualify.  Maybe on vacation.  “Honey I’ve fallen and can’t reach my P/E or my Corona.  Gonna need at least one of those.”

SQP–Your hands smell like gasoline after a fill-up.  HQP–Elon Musk will not be able to attend your daughter’s birthday party, and so your new Tesla will be dropped off by a delivery service.

balloons-388973_1920

SQP–Your daughter stalking out of the dumbass alcohol-free grandma birthday party you dropped on her.  HQP–Your daughter stalking off from the dumbass birthday party you promised her–with the no-show surprise guest Elon Musk.  She doesn’t know about her new car yet.  This is the problem that solves itself–that’s Ultra-HQP yo.

SQP–The stock you invested in has dropped off the table and you can’t located it anywhere.  HQP–The stock you bought call options for went up, and then up some more, but you jacked up your exercise order and sold the calls, when you intended to buy the shares.

SQP–The calls you attempt to exercise have dropped below your purchase price, thus you’re now taking a loss, and you get no shares.  HQP–The calls you bought appreciated and when you mucked-up the conversion, you still turn an 80%(CAGR) return.

As we can clearly see, StockJaw’s call option muddle resulted in a HQP.  Anyway you slice it an 80% compound annual growth rate(CAGR) is not a failure, exactly.  It’s not what we intended, yet we live to invest again–today in fact.

All problems are not created equal and the quality of the ones we face on a daily basis will improve as our thinking improves.  That’s a promise.

Thanks for reading.  Keep looking.
